Normal Household UPSC relevant
A normal household is the residual — and by far the largest — category of census household: any household that is neither an institutional household nor a houseless household.
It is a group of persons normally living together in a census house and taking meals from a common kitchen (related, unrelated or mixed). The distinction has real operational weight in Census 2027: the official FAQ states that only Normal Households may use the new Self-Enumeration facility; institutional and houseless households must be enumerated by an enumerator in person. Most published household-level census statistics (household size, amenities, assets) are tabulated for normal households, so understanding the category is essential when reading 2026 houselisting outputs and later 2027 tables.
